Poladriod
Every now and then you run across a free application on the web that you don’t need but you know would be fun, this is one of those. Poladriod produces Polaroid style jpegs from your picture really easy, and it develops before your eyes, just like a real Polaroid.
Here are a few I “took” today. Where there are two subjects the same the top one is processing with the bottom being the fully processed photo. I like that you can take snap shots durring the processing as I think sometimes partly processed looks better.

There is also the option of having a “clean print” meaning no finger prints, dust etc.
Now I have to work out if there is a way of writing on the bottom bit. Oh and sorry PC users this is currently only for Mac.

Lace & Cable Finished
I have finished the Lace & Cable top, this is my longest continually worked on project so far and it is the best result, I’m am so happy with it. When I tried it on for the final time i turned to lossy and jumped in the air “It looks great and goes with stuff I already own!” lol
The only small thing that I can see is that the yarn is two different colours, some of the balls had yellowed and I didn’t notice until it was too late, but I will try to soak it to see if it makes it all the same.

700 – Arts and Recreation
A quick trip to any library can cause a back injury with me.
On a fleeting trip to the local library to return books today, I walked out with the books to the left. This was only my selection from one shelf, you don’t want to see what I can choose when there is more time and I take a good look around. I often walk up to Lossy tettering under the weight of my chosen material telling him to get me out of here before I leave with the whole library.
700 in the Dewey Decimal Classification is where you can find me in a library, this section covers pretty much all my interests:
700 Arts
710 Landscaping & area planning
720 Architecture
730 Sculpture, ceramics & metalwork
740 Drawing & decorative arts
750 Painting
760 Graphic arts
770 Photography & computer art
780 Music

Close Ups: Alpha 200
I spoke earlier about not having tried close ups of plants with the DSLR A200. Well I got myself a Marumi close up filter set which has +1 +2 & +4 magnification and set to work in the back yard. While I was at it I shot in RAW as I hadn’t given that a go either and thought what better time.
These three were all taken with the +2 which I think has provided pretty good results.

Symonds Street Cemetery
This was Auckland’s major public cemetery from 1840 to 1886, closed now for over 100 years this once peaceful resting place is now overwhelmed by the roar of the motorway and busy Symonds Street. Unfortunately this area has a history of vandalism and assaults. The cemetery was developed as five separate cemeteries – Jewish section, Catholic section, Presbyterian section, Anglican section and a combined Wesleyan and general section. Part of the cemetery is under neither the grafton bridge, which is a concret bridge built over 100 years ago.
These pictures were taken with a Fujifilm s7000 in the January of 2006

Lace & Gardens
As promised yesterday….
This is my progress to date on the Lace & Cable Top, I really like the fit of it and can’t wait to get it finished.
This weekend we have spent time in the garden, I rigged up this teepee for my snow peas to hang on to as the grow, I couldn’t find any string so I used some of the flax we have growing in abundance. I’m hoping the peas will grow ok in the container as we didn’t have a good spot in our raised bed garden for something that grows so tall. It will be interested to see how well the teepee worked, last year we had terrible trouble trying to find something to support the tomato plants, if these work well for the peas, I will try something similar for the tomatos this year.
You can see other photos of our garden here….

Pretty Perdita
I took a little detour on the project for a friends birthday, the scarf I wasn’t happy with but with a browses of my queue on ravelry I found the perfect project, a little Lilac Perdita from Knitty. I have wanted to make one of these since I first saw the pattern and now I had the excues to.

I used Naturally Hand Knit Stella, which is a 100% bamboo and used a couple of buttons I had lying around, I hope the intended recipient like it. All up in only took 2 hours plus a little bit of time to block it out, the photos were taken on TP’s wrist before blocking.
The Lace & Cable top has slowed down a bit, I am up to the peplum but there are so many stitches now that one round takes forever and having had a full on work week I have not been awake enough at the end of the day to even attempt lace knitting. But I do promise I will post a progress photo very soon.

Eden Scarf as a Distraction
The Lace & Cable top is not something I should be knitting when I am tired so as a bit of a distraction I have started the Eden Scarf from Knitalong. Just a little bit of knitted jewelry to see my fidgety fingers happy after a long day. I am using a ball of Patons Bluebell that I have had for a long time in my stash.
I was also thinking of starting something for a friends birthday at the end of the month, a scarf would be good as she feels the cold so I might get started on this later today.
