We had great plans for this weekend, after TP’s swimming on Saturday we were going to head to MOTAT and take advantage of the last weekend of free entry. Then Sunday was going to be a movie at the local old movie theatre, to show TP what a single screen movie theatre is like. But alias these plans were shot down on Thursday morning when TP, having had a headache for the past few days, awoke with spots. Chicken Pox.
So instead of the planned activities, our weekend went something along the lines of this: TP crying in pain from pox. Bath with oatmeal to ease pain, “It’s ichy”. I popped out the library to pick up a books, including one I had requested The Memory Keepers Daughter, by Kim Edwards, gather supplies of pharmaceuticals (which claim to stop the itch and relive the pox) and some sugary treats. Upon arriving home and administering pharmaceutical, TP settled down with one of the books I picked up and I sat down with some yarn and needles. And so the day continued like this, interrupted with bouts of crying and itching, not to forget careful cuddles. It was early to bed for the three of us on account that there wasn’t much else to do.
This morning TP woke early, why are children able to do this on the weekend but not during the week? And sat her self down checking her e-mails and visiting her penguin over at Club Penguin. Lossy lovingly let me sleep in and finally when I awoke had a coffee waiting for me. The day progressed slowly, TP in much less pain and happy to sit for hours on Big Bob (a very large soft bear she has had since birth) listening to audio books, I did much the same on the couch with the Memory Keeper in hand and Lossy played around on this bass or on the net until heading out to do the weekly shop.
While not the weekend we had planned it was nice to sit and relax, lots of things could have been done, cleaning, gardening, etc but we didn’t. I have swatched for my next knitting project: Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig, a light summer carigan which I think I will get a lot of wear out of and TP is feeling better although she won’t be back at school for a good few days yet, much to her disapointment.
